Scholarships & Grants
Scholarship Funds are an Important Part of our Foundation
The Elk County Community Foundation awards scholarships to deserving area students. Although we view an education as a priceless commodity, it can become quite expensive. Through our established scholarship funds, we can assist hard-working, active students in receiving the education they need to become successful, productive members of the community. These students want to succeed, and with your help, we can send them down the right path.
By helping students pursue a higher education, we are ensuring the future of our community. Many of the scholarship winners have stated their interest in returning to our area to establish their professional careers. With the help of these scholarship funds, they can receive a quality education from a credible institution. We hope that wherever they may end up, receiving a scholarship award from our foundation has planted a seed of philanthropy that will grow with them until they are able to give back to their community, just as their community has given to them. It is amazing to see what a difference we can make in the lives of the students by awarding them these scholarships. The Elk County Community Foundation Board extends their gratitude to those who have seen the need and believe in the youth of today.
The PATH program provides matching grant awards to undergraduate students attending Pennsylvania post-secondary institutions who have received a scholarship from a PATH Partner and qualifies for addition funding. The Elk County Community Foundation has been a PATH partner since nearly the beginning of their Scholarship Program. Nearly one half of our dollars have been match and granted to deserving scholarship recipients each year. What this means for our donors is that their scholarship award will potentially double because the Foundation is an approved partner with PHEAA
The Elk County Community Foundation welcomes applications for funding as part of its mission to promote the betterment of Elk County and to enhance the quality of life for all residents.
The Foundation follows these principles when awarding grants:
- Awards are made to non-profit organizations that provide services within Elk County
- Grants are made primarily to tax-exempt 501(c)(3) charitable organizations.
- The Foundation seeks to meet the needs of the community rather than the needs of individuals
- Grants are made to support programs serving all persons, regardless of race, religion, or creed.
- Grant applications are accepted throughout the year and can be obtained by calling the Community Foundation office or by visiting www.elkcountyfoundation.com.
