Scholarships
Set up in memory of Patricia Caribardi, a 38 year supporter of the Johnsonburg Area School District, this scholarship is offered to a senior at Johnsonburg Area High School who plays an active role in their school and community and has a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applications are available through the guidance counselor’s office of the school.
Frank Clark Memorial Scholarship

Named to honor the memory of a Ridgway Area High School student who lost his battle with cancer his senior year. Frank had a passion for basketball, art, and playing his guitar. This scholarship is available to seniors from Ridgway Area High School who are active in athletics and their school and community, as well as demonstrate the need for financial aid. Applications are available through the guidance counselor’s office of the school.
Christian Cordero Memorial Scholarship
The Christian Cordero Memorial Scholarship Award will be given each year to an eight grade Cavalier Basketball Player who will be attending Elk County Catholic High School. The award will be given to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of former Cavalier Basketball player and assistant coach Christian Cordero through their discipline, values, hustle, and dedication to the team and to the program. This award shall be voted upon by the Cavalier Basketball coaching staff. The award will be presented to the recipient at the eight grade graduation ceremony.
Thomas Detwiler Memorial Scholarship
Thomas C. Detwiler was a dedicated and passionate leader during the 38 years he spent in Domtar’s Johnsonburg Paper Mill progressing through several positions of increased responsibility and influence. His wisdom and tireless efforts have made a lasting impression on those he touched during his outstanding career. Tom’s love of science, nature, and the outdoors, coupled with the love of his family and music, are part of a legacy. This scholarship is given to a graduate from Johnsonburg Area High School with at least a 3.5 GPA, pursuing a degree in the field of science, and who has been invovled in extracurricular activites.
Lori DeAngelo Memorial Scholarship

Lori was a very involved instructor/advisor and classroom aide at St. Marys Area High School. Her talents and great interests in the students enabled her to touch the lives of many students through out the school. Lori was always involved with school musicals, the marching band, color guard, show choir, dance team and drum line. Her love of music enriched the lives of those who had the pleasure to know her. This scholarship is available to St. Marys Area High School Seniors who are a member of one or more music programs. Applications are available through the guidance counselor’s office of the school.
Elk County Farm Bureau
The Elk County Farm Bureau is a local organization that is also affiliated with the state and national Farm Bureaus. The organization represents farmers and rural families continuing the tradition of farming. They provide education and review legislation that concerns the farming industry and they provide support for their members. This scholarship is available to seniors graduating from Elk County Catholic, Ridgway Area, Johnsonburg Area, and St. Marys Area High Schools.
However, students outside of Elk County may be eligible for this scholarship if they are the child or grandchild of an Elk County Farm Bureau Member. Also students must be enrolled in the field of agriculture or any related field at a post-secondary institution. A GPA of 2.5 is required. Candidate must demonstrate financial need and have documented community service. Applications are available through the guidance counselor’s office of each school
Dick Fava Memorial Scholarship Sponsored by the Ridgway Fire Department and Friends
Dick was a very active member of the Ridgway Volunteer Fire Department. He was a firefighter as well as a member of the Rescue Squad helping people in need when ever called upon. Dick had a strong desire to see that his children and all kids had the opportunity to go so college and have a successful life. For that reason, when Dick unexpectedly passed away at 42, his family, friends, and fellow firefighters decided to set up this scholarship, in his memory, to fulfill his wishes. This scholarship is awarded to a student who resides in the Ridgway Area School District and attends either Elk County Catholic High School or Ridgway Area High School.
